Santanoni Winter Weekends

Join us for a ski or snowshoe during Camp Santanoni's annual Winter Weekends!

On January 13-15, February 17-19, and March 16-17, explore the Gate Lodge and Main Lodge, view displays about the Great Camp, and take short interpretive tours with Adirondack Architectural Heritage volunteers. Buildings will be open to the public from 10-3. The event provides a rare opportunity to go inside buildings and meet guides during the winter months. The 10-mile round trip on gently rolling terrain will take you past the Santanoni Farm and through the Forest Preserve on a wide, old road (no vehicle access).

Stop into the Gate Lodge Visitors Center to see interpretive displays and borrow snowshoes provided by the Adirondack Interpretive Center (AIC) if needed. The Artist’s Studio, a stone building near the Main Lodge on the shores of Newcomb Lake, will be open as a warming hut. Enjoy free coffee, tea, or hot chocolate by the wood stove. Visitors are also encouraged to take the half-mile trail that connects the Santanoni Road to the AIC’s 3.6-mile trail system. The center’s buildings will be open during the weekend. Event hosted by Adirondack Architectural Heritage, NYS Department of Environmental Conservation, the Town of Newcomb, and the Adirondack Interpretive Center.

NOTE: Winter conditions can change quickly in the backcountry. Be prepared with extra warm clothing and adequate supplies for your trip.

We hope to see you there!
